The Thrifty Tally is an independent guide to eating, shopping, and cooking for cheap in Detroit, run by Front Porch Web Studio, a small Michigan web studio. We are not a government agency or a food bank.

We publish two things: a verified tally of Detroit cheap-food resources (discount grocers, produce markets, salvage outlets, pantry schedules) and plain guides to the money side of food — SNAP changes, price math, cooking basics.
